Meet Attorney Jennifer Carpenter-Hanley
Jennifer is a founding partner at what is now Hanley Adoption Law Group. She has spent the last sixteen years representing adoptive families and loves the challenge of taking on difficult cases.
Jennifer graduated from DePauw University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. After working for several years in the private child welfare field, she obtained her J.D. from Indiana University School of Law- Indianapolis and went on to work as a Marion County Deputy Prosecutor for Marion County in the Juvenile and the Sex Crimes Divisions.
After four years with the Prosecutor’s Office, Jennifer represented the Department of Public Welfare, the Family and Social Services Administration and finally the Marion County Department of Child Services for sixteen years. During that time she appeared in administrative, court and appellate proceedings involving CHINS, TPCR and licensing issues. Jennifer was involved in “freeing” more than 3,000 children for adoption. She also served as Chief Counsel of the Marion County Office of Family and Children. Since 2007, Jennifer has represented Adoptive Parents in more than 2,500 adoptions. She considers it an honor to assist these families and looks forward to helping more families in the future.
As proud mother and grandparent, she has spent a lot of time at her kids’ hockey, football, soccer, and basketball practices and games, music concerts or tumbling tournaments. She loves volunteering at her church and is always on the lookout for opportunities to experience other cultures, whether by traveling to unique places with her husband, making a new friend who was born or raised in a far off place or enjoying a meal at a local Ethiopian restaurant.
